This study aims to improve the ability to recognize words through snakes and ladders media for children aged 5-6 years in Pertiwi Kindergarten 14.25.22 Semampir. This research is motivated by the low ability to recognize words due to the use of media that is less precise, evidenced the initial pre-action results of 31.30%. This research is a type of classroom action research using the Kemmis and Taggart model with stages of planning, action and observation, reflection. The research process was carried out 2 cycles at the start of the odd semester of the academic year 2020/2021. The subjects in this study were children aged 5-6 years, totaling 12 children. Data collection techniques using observation and documentation. The data analysis technique uses quantitative descriptive. The results of this study indicate that ladder snake media can improve children's ability to recognize words. The results of the first cycle 65,97% then increased 15,50% in the second cycle to 81, 47%. Improvement in recognizing words including children can show words according to pictures, children can mimic words by reading writing, children can pair images and symbols into words. The steps of snake ladder media can improve the ability to recognize words are 1) researchers make media according to the theme, 2) researchers explain how to play snake ladder media, 3) researchers make 2 groups to play snake ladder media, 4) researchers give awards to children who are enthusiastic to play snake ladder media in the form of coin images.
