Abstract

Concrete placement work is a crucial stage in multistory building construction projects as it directly impacts cost efficiency and project timeline. The Mall 23 Semarang Construction Project features a complex structure and a high volume of concrete placement, thus requiring an evaluation of placement methods suitable for field conditions. This research aims to analyze the cost efficiency of concrete placement by comparing actual field costs against costs based on the Indonesian National Standard (SNI), as well as to analyze the time and productivity of placement methods using a concrete pump and a concrete bucket according to the characteristics of the structural elements being worked on. This research uses an observational method with a quantitative descriptive approach. Data were obtained through direct observation of concrete placement work on the 3rd Floor, Zone D of the Mall 23 Semarang Construction Project, covering work volume, implementation duration, and actual costs, supported by interviews and literature study. The data were analyzed numerically to evaluate cost efficiency against SNI and to calculate the average time and productivity rate of each placement method based on effective duration and work volume. The results show that the actual cost of placement using a concrete pump is IDR 1,026,134/m³ and using a concrete bucket is IDR 1,081,172/m³, lower than the costs based on SNI, which are IDR 1,666,741/m³ and IDR 1,362,741/m³, respectively. The cost efficiency rate reaches 38.43% for the concrete pump method and 20.66% for the concrete bucket method. In terms of time and productivity, placing slabs and beams using a concrete pump requires an average time of 2.831 minutes/m³ with a productivity of 0.353 m³/minute, while placing columns using a concrete bucket requires 10.532 minutes/m³ with a productivity of 0.095 m³/minute. This research suggests considering the use of a larger capacity concrete bucket and further study on alternative placement methods and variations in work elevation.
