Abstract

The bonding of old and new concrete is a common challenge in construction projects due to differences in curing times, which can significantly reduce structural strength. This study aims to analyze the effect of using Sikacim Bonding Adhesive on the compressive strength and bond strength (Slant Shear) of cylindrical concrete joints using a quantitative experimental methodology with variations in joint age of 7-14 days and 14-28 days, an inclination angle of 30°, and concrete strength f'c of 18.68 MPa. The test results show that the compressive strength of 7-day-old joints with and without bonding agent is 13.007 MPa and 11.188 MPa, respectively (a decrease of 24.94% and 35.44% compared to 7-day-old concrete without joints), while at 14 days, the compressive strength was 15.666 MPa and 14.172 MPa (a decrease of 22.12% and 29.55% compared to concrete without joints aged 14 days). The bond strength of the 7-day-old joint reached 5.63 MPa (with Bonding Agent) and 4.84 MPa (without Bonding Agent), representing an increase of 16.26%. Meanwhile, the bond strength of the 14-day-old joint reached 6.78 MPa (with Bonding Agent) and 6.14 MPa (without Bonding Agent), representing an increase of 10.54%. The study concluded that Sikacim Bonding Adhesive effectively increases interface bond strength, especially at short joint ages (7-14 days), although the compressive strength of the joint remains lower than that of monolithic concrete. These findings provide practical recommendations for optimizing concrete jointing in construction
