Abstract

Road capacity is the ability of a road section to accommodate the number of vehicles passing within a certain time, measured in the number of vehicles per hour. The purpose of this study is to determine the traffic conditions on the road by calculating the number of passing vehicles, the physical condition of the road, and the surrounding conditions. This study, done on Jalan Ahmad Yani in the Kebumen District, aimed to find out how much traffic the road could handle and how smoothly traffic moved along it. Data collected through surveys, namely at 07.00–09.00 and 16.00–18.00, included traffic volume, vehicle speed, and the physical condition of the road. The data were analyzed using the 1997 Indonesian Road Capacity Manual (MKJI) method, with the degree of saturation (DS) as an indicator to determine traffic conditions on Jalan Ahmad Yani. The results showed a road capacity of 2718 pcu per hour and a level of service at LOS B with a figure of 0,231. This means that traffic flow on Jalan Ahmad Yani is currently in a stable flow condition, but the operating speed is starting to be limited by traffic conditions
