Abstract

This study aims to: (1) Describe the attitudes and social behaviors of children aged 3-5 years in the Mekar Sari Play Group of Makmur Jaya Village; (2) Analyzing parental parenting in improving children's social attitudes and behaviors; (3) Identify obstacles and efforts of parents in optimizing parenting styles. The research uses a qualitative approach with the type of field research. Primary data was obtained through observation, in-depth interviews with parents and caregivers, and documentation of children's activities, while secondary data was sourced from institutional documents and records of related events. The data analysis technique refers to a flow model with validity tests through triangulation, diligent observation, and peer checking. The results of the study show three main findings. First, children's social attitudes and behaviors tend to be partial, with some children exhibiting only social responses in limited contexts (such as routine or religious activities) without active participation in broader interactions. Second, parenting is realized through structured mentoring, such as setting a 30-minute study time after waking up and evening reading sessions, as well as the use of Educational Game Tools (APE) to stimulate social engagement. Third, the main obstacle lies in the lack of consistency of parental attention to the child's social development, although efforts such as collaboration with teachers and the use of APE have been made. These findings show the need to strengthen the synergy between home parenting and pedagogical approaches in early childhood education institutions to address the gap in parents' perceptions of children's social education. This study recommends increasing the capacity of parents through community-based mentoring programs and the integration of social-interactive learning methods in Mekar Sari Play Group Play.
