This study aims to stimulate independent behavior through storytelling and habituation methods for children aged 4-5 years in NU 25 At-Taqwa Muslim Kindergarten. This research is motivated by the low independence of children due to inappropriate methods, as evidenced by the results of the initial pre-action of 37.78%. This research is a type of classroom action research with the Kemmis and Taggart model with the stages of planning, implementing and observing, reflecting. The research process was carried out in 2 cycles at the beginning of the odd semester of the 2020/2021 academic year. The subjects in this study were 15 children aged 4-5 years. Data collection techniques using observation and documentation. The data analysis technique uses quantitative descriptive. The results of this study indicate that storytelling and habituation methods can stimulate independent behavior. The results of the first cycle increased from pre-action by 17.78%, namely from 37.78% to 55.56% and increased again by 25.55% in the second cycle to 81.11%. The steps of the storytelling and habituation method to stimulate independence are 1) Using various media in storytelling, 2) providing tasks that are appropriate to the child's developmental stage, 3) children are given rewards / awards to children who are able to perform independent behavior in the form of praise / go home early .
