Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) needs to be introduced from an early age as an important effort to develop healthy habits among elementary school students. One essential practice that needs to be encouraged is handwashing with soap. This community service program aimed to strengthen the understanding and skills of first-grade students in implementing PHBS through health education and handwashing with soap practice. The activity was conducted on August 29, 2026, at SDN Kalisono, involving 25 first-grade students. The methods consisted of education, demonstration, hands-on practice, and evaluation. The educational activities were delivered through simple and interactive explanations covering the concept of PHBS, the benefits of handwashing with soap, important times for handwashing, and the proper steps of handwashing. The results showed an improvement in students’ understanding and skills after participating in the program. The average level of students’ understanding and skills increased from 42.4% before the activity to 89.6% after the activity. Students’ ability to perform proper handwashing with soap also increased from 28% to 84%. These findings indicate that health education combined with demonstrations and hands-on practice can be an effective approach to strengthening PHBS understanding and skills among first-grade elementary school students. Continued implementation through regular handwashing habits, supported by teachers, schools, and families, is needed to maintain and develop the behavior in students’ daily lives
